For everyone who did not look at the 'banner' of the aircraft carrier in Hong Kong Harbour in yesterday's pictures, here is a hint: It is the Star Spangled Banner, i.e. there is a US aircraft carrier in Hong Kong Harbour. A curious side note: Yesterday the banner flew at full mast, even though news reports stated that US flags everywhere would be flown at half mast. Seems I get the news from the Pentagon faster than US aircraft carriers. Today the order must have finally made it through the chain of command ;-)
The lack of smiles in people's faces is also a reflection of the stance of China, as stated in this article of a hand-out newspaper. Hint: you can enlarge these pictures by clicking on them to see details otherwise hidden ;-)
