Oscar Wilde (or This ship and the poor poet they named it after)

Let's have the RANT first, and get to the nice positive things apres. (France is approaching rapidly!)
/Start Rant/
The WIFI on the Ferry is OUTRAGEOUSLY SLOW.  In addition, it is only available in Restaurant Alley, not in one's room, which would be convenient and would not have 200 SCREAMING children swarming.
Also convenient would be the option of making phone calls from one's cabin to a telephone number that is not on this ship. NOT.  As if that wasn't bad enough: There is NOWHERE ON THIS SHIP that allows making telephone calls to numbers that are not on this ship.  Personally, I think this is almost a reason to take a plane next time!
And why is the lead ship of Irish Ferries registered in Nassau and all of its crew members have Slavic accents?  A matter of national pride?
/End Rant/

Restaurants close at 9:30 pm, but at least there is a 24 hour joint, but the only warm food I found was 'hotdog in puff pastry'. At least I'll find an Americano whenever I wake up prematurely tonight ;-)

It is 5 am Irish time (6 am French time), I've had my above-mentioned Americano, and was much appeased by last night's sunset.  That sunset lasted half an hour and the sky was ever changing.  It wiped out any misgivings about missing telecommunications capacities of this ship.
Looking into the direction opposite of the sun

A sunset about to break out of its cage ;-)

... and then it explodes ;-)

Brocade skies and seas!

The rest of the ship is actually quite nice.  Here is a picture of my outside double cabin on the Bridge Deck, which I occupy alone.

Outside: those two small square windows close to the bottom of picture

From deck 10 to deck 8, right by my window ;-)
One thing I have to get used to is the overpowering presence of WATER.  When taking BC Ferries, there always is a small island close by that could serve as a target for a swim, if the ferry suddenly decided to become a submarine.  There are no small islands in sight here. There are no large islands in sight either.  There is absolutely NOTHING in sight BUT WATER.  That's OK actually; I'm a lousy swimmer anyway ;-(

after the goldrush ;-)
