Thougts about not leaving

An amazing things about mornings in Brittany: At 7:35 (or earlier) there is not a soul on the road. And consequently NO CARS either. All one hears is les mouettes (seagulls). A very peaceful & civilized way to start a day ;-)
Today I wish that I did not have translating work to finish, did not have any trip deadlines (Cologne 12th & Frankfurt 17th of July), and that I had not booked a room in St Malo for Friday.  Today's trip will get me to Ploubazlanec, on the other end of the Cote du Granite Rose. But the shortest distance takes an inland route. For this route it would have been nice to have the time and leisure to go entirely along coastal roads. Ah well; another time maybe.  For anyone interested in travelling here:  High season (i.e. high hotel prices) starts on June 15 and lasts until September 15.  Last week (already high season) some of the hotels in Saint Malo were still quite empty and consequently still had low-season prices. That has changed now ;-(.

I almost decided to cancel my hotel in Ploubazlanec and stay another day in the Bellevue in Tregastel. And no, it was not the not-quite-perfect 'sea view', not the lack of a direct-dial phone in the room, not their choice of spamming-and-info-collecting internet provider. It was the people running this place. In two weeks I have not slept as well as last night. OK, maybe the 79 kms had something to do with that as well ;-).  But the care that went into the breakfast this morning: unbelievable!  The hotel is run by a Grandmother, Mother, and Daughter team with a male that by age would be the father.  And they are SOOO LOVELY!  But in the end I decided to stay on the road. Too early to settle, the people in the next hotel might be even lovelier ;-)
